Botox virgin?
Are you a Botox virgin and those wrinkles are starting to drive you crazy, but you’re not really sure about getting them injected?
You’ve tuned in to the right place! Today, I’m going to provide you with the answers you need to feel comfortable to take the next step and say NO to your wrinkles, with Botox!
According to the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine 2022 (IAPAM) “When it comes to changing one’s physical appearance, Botox® and dermal fillers are the most popular non-invasive procedures on the market in the past decade.” We can thank Covid’s “Zoom Boom” for bringing attention to our facial wrinkles around our eyes, forehead and basically anywhere else we started seeing fine lines. Botox can help with fine lines, crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, the dreaded “11” lines between the eyebrows, and more.
Not only does Botox have cosmetic purposes, but Botox can also be used for things like treating migraines, teeth grinding and excessive sweating. For something that is relatively inexpensive and done quickly, Botox packs a punch.
Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) is the name of a neurotoxin, manufactured by Allergan Aesthetics (AbbVie Company) and derived from Clostridium Botulinum. There are other neurotoxins commonly referred to as toxin or tox, that are produced by other companies and thus have different brand names.
What is a neurotoxin? It's a substance that alters the function or structure of the nervous system. In the case of Botox, it comes in a powder that is mixed with normal saline and is then injected directly into the muscle to weaken the muscle. It does this by blocking certain chemical signals from nerves that cause those muscles to contract, thereby relaxing the facial muscles that cause wrinkles thus giving you a softer, tighter, more rejuvenated look!
Botox also slows down the use of those muscles. A great treatment to PREVENT lines from developing (or at least delaying the development of the lines). This is one of the reasons why people begin having Botox to treat wrinkles even before they emerge, they can essentially prevent them before they even happen! Preventative Botox can prevent deep lines, which can make you look older and tired and are harder to treat once they develop.
How much Botox do I need? This is not a one dose fits all! At Naturally You Aesthetics you will meet with your qualified nurse injector for a consultation to determine what is most appropriate for you. We provide a complete assessment and take into account your desired outcome, your anatomy, your skin, your wrinkles, or your potential for wrinkle formation, and if you’ve ever had toxin before.
How long does Botox last? A good rule of thumb is 3 months. That being said, in general, Botox can last 2-4 months. Rarely, there can be clients in which it lasts longer, in that 4-6 months range, or shorter, in that 2 month range. It is also common for first-timers to notice that it may not last as long initially but may last longer after the second treatment. We’ve also seen longer durations when our clients combine high quality skincare like Skinceuticals and Epicutis into their daily skincare routine.
How do I know when I should begin Botox treatments? If you want to prevent the earliest fine lines from becoming full-blown wrinkles, preventative Botox can be the solution. Botox is approved for patients who are 18 years and older and most experts agree that patients in their mid to late 20s and early 30s are at a good age for preventative Botox treatment to stop the aging process in its tracks!
How much does it cost? At Naturally You Aesthetics we are unique in that we offer “Service Botox.” This means you get a little pampering with your Botox for a set fee. The pampering includes a luxurious facial cleanse with massage, followed by Botox injections into the areas of concern, a 16 minute LED red light therapy with serum application, and lastly, high quality skincare from our backbar to leave your skin glowing post injections. Clients who have had our “Service Botox” say “I don’t look like I just had injections!” and “My skin is glowing, and that’s never happened after I’ve gotten pokes before!” For those in a hurry, we provide the option for “Express Botox” in which we charge $14.00/U. With this choice, we prep the skin, provide the injections into the areas of concern, and conclude with an antimicrobial agent.
